Important information on the flu

I am sorry I haven’t been blogging much lately. I was off on vacation last week in wine country but enough excuses I am back and I will be blogging. I have so much to share about my vacation but that will have to wait until next week (I am slammed at work right now).

I wanted to share this email with all of you from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On behalf of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), I want to let you know about a new, short documentary, Why Flu Matters: Personal Stories of Families Who Lost Children to the Flu.
The six minute film is part of an aggressive grassroots effort to educate parents on the dangers of influenza. It has been made available online at http://www.youtube.com/cdcflu and we would very much appreciate if you could share the link with others by forwarding it or posting it to your website.
Flu takes a big toll on young children. Each year in the United States, an average of 20,000 children younger than 5 are hospitalized because of flu-related complications. As many as 1 in 5 children younger than 5 may have to see the doctor, visit the ER or other urgent care for treatment for flu. Tragically, around 100 children die from this serious disease each year. Vaccination is the best and most effective way to prevent and spread the disease, especially for children ages 6 months through 18 years.
The film was created by the CDC together with Families Fighting Flu, Inc., and directed by Emmy award-winning Mustapha Khan, creator of “House on Fire” and Tommy Walker, award-winning producer and co-director of “God Grew Tired of Us: The Story of Lost Boys of Sudan.“

I just wanted to pass the information along!

Take care and have a great weekend everyone!

Amy
