Where to go be a kid….

I don’t know how he does it.

Brady works as many hours as i do, and that’s a ridiculous amount of hours. Every Sunday, Brady and I take a few hours just for us.  We go somewhere—I typically plan something earlier in the week—-and we just go chill.  Nothing we do is supposed to be “therapeutic”.  But truth is, nearly everything you can do with an autism kiddo can be therapeutic.  Here’s a list of the places that I love to take the Bradster… and I’d love to hear what you do for fun with your kid.

-COSI + Columbus Zoo (i put them together because both are worth a season pass, and both are awesome places visually and physically for autism kids.  lots of interaction)
-Sporting events (He doesn’t mind crowds and gets into the action of a hockey or baseball game—the new Huntington Park is extremely kid-friendly… sit in the picnic bleachers or the grassy area in center field.
-Chick Fil A—i know they’re closed on Sundays, but they have a great play area and the food is actually nutritious for fast food.
-City of Powell park.  One of my favorite public parks… I also like the Sawmill Commons area—huge park that connects with the elementary school—3 full playgrounds in the same area!

That’s just the tip of the iceberg. Give us your tips on some great places to take autism kids!!

Thanks

Youngs Jersey Dairy in Yellowsprings…ice cream made from the cows on the family owned farm’s milk, a petting zoo, tractor to climb on, a picnic area. Nearby is an water powered (still working!) grist mill and famous Clifton gorge to walk in-spectacular scenery.
The Sisters Garden area of Inniswood park in Westerville is a magical place for kids of all ages. I don’t want to give away all the secrets, but it has many very unusual and fun features for children to explore that will delight adults also.
Franklin Park Conservatory is great for kids, they have a garden train in a courtyard, the palm house is spectacular, including the tree house kids can go up in(I advise an adult go too!)...fun place!
