Elaborating With Ellie

Another Baby on Board

Yup, it’s true.  I am expecting a baby girl the first week of April.  I just started the third trimester, and so far, so good.  This little girl is kicking up a storm and already seems very active….just like her big sister.  Caroline turns three in a few days and I can’t understand where those wonderful, amazing, and precious years went.  Three years just flew by!  We are loving this age with Caroline though.  She is so anxious to try EVERYTHING, and as curious as her favorite guy, Curious George.  She’s full of life, and my husband and I are so blessed to be her parents.  So, I guess since the first one turned out well, we were anxious to have another.  :)

That being said….I am looking for advice and story ideas, so bring it on fellow moms.  What stories on pregnancy, children and motherhood would you like to see on NBC 4?  What advice would you like to offer?  I’d LOVE to hear it!  You can leave a comment below, or feel free to email me directly at

Ellie,
One thing we did when I was expecting my second child was to refer to the baby as “belonging” to our older child.  “Your baby brother or sister will be here soon!  He/she can’t wait to meet you!“  We also referred to our older child as the “big sister”. We told her that she was the only big sister this child was ever going to have, and that we were sure she would be the MOST wonderful big sister ever!  When I had the baby, my mother brought our then 22-month-old girlie to the hospital to see us…she completely ignored me! Wouldn’t even look at me!  However, she fawned all over her baby brother and wanted to take him home and put him in HER room! :)  The honeymoon lasted quite awhile, actually.  They’re teenagers now though, so they fight like two bobcats in a burlap sack.  But it was nice while it lasted!

One other thing I should mention, since it will hit you in the face like a ton of bricks:  it is sooo much harder with two.  There is a huge adjustment to having to tend to two instead of only one.  It is the craziest time in your life, but like most other moms, I still look back on it with quite a bit of joy.  It was a precious time.

Best wishes to you and your sweet little family!

Congrats!!So happy for you and hubby and of course Caroline. She will be a great big sister.
Write down the little moments, you tend to forget them and can look back on them when they arent so little…
