First at 4 ...here we go!
This is a big day for us at NBC 4 and I am so proud to be a part of it. We are launching First at 4, live from NBC 4 on the Square. I love my job and the best part is I get to work with an amazing team of journalists who genuinely care about the stories we cover. In the next week or so, I will introduce you to some of the folks I work with everyday and give you a “behind the scenes” look at what we do to put on a newscast. I would love for you to get to know the people I work with, because I think the world of them.
So what can you expect today? Here’s a “sneak peak.“
Whew, it’s hot! You can bet we are covering this sweltering heat. Not just from the weather department, but we have Marcus Thorpe working on everything you need to know to keep your family safe in the heat and great resources in our community to help you stay cool….and many that are free. We love FREE!
Calling all parents…finding the perfect balance between work and family. I love this story. How many of you parents out there have thought “I’d love to work when the kids are in school and be home to see them get off the bus?“ Well, there are parents who are doing just that and a business (owned by a mom!) that is looking for a few good moms. I’ll introduce you to a mother who gets the best of both worlds. She juggles a career with a family and does it all on her own terms. Plus, I’ll give you the scoop on the business that matches jobs with workers who want flexible hours. The best part is it’s free to you!
Meet our Neighbors. We’re heading out around downtown Columbus to meet the folks “next door.“ Today we’re heading to a downtown hot spot that you may have never known was there. That’s because it is hard to find and only the downtown “locals” know about it. Plus, it’s full of history and there’s a cool ghost story, too.
Question of the Day…and I’ll need some help from you on this one. Have you ever wondered which ice cream is the most fattening? I haven’t. I just eat it. But—this is cool. Julia Catalfino has the “scoop” for us on a hot day like today.
Saving you Money. We have great ideas today, including a new use for leftover baby food, free swimming lessons, a cheap way to make your own dryer sheets and ways to make things last longer around your house.
Plus, our team of reporters are working on the big stories of the day, so count on the latest from them. Marshall McPeek is keeping an eye on the forecast and Monica Day will check on traffic for us. I hope you’ll join us for First at 4. I especially hope you will email me (
) with your feedback and story ideas.
And just to make you laugh….today is “blue day” at Caroline’s school, so she needed to take something blue with her today. Guess what I picked? She has these hand bells with a blue handle that are so loud and obnoxious, so yup, we went with those. She loves them and totally “rocks out with them.“ I’m sure her teacher wants to kill me, but I got a little chuckle at the thought of her running around with the loud bells all day long. I’m guessing they’ll be coming home with us tonight, too. :)
Have a great day everybody. I’ll see you at 4.
Ellie
