Elaborating With Ellie

Fun Friday!

Oh my….it’s so nice to know it’s FRIDAY!  I love my job, but I am ready for the weekend.  :)

This morning I took Caroline to her 18 month check-up.  Wow—where did those 18 months go?  It seems like we just brought her home from the hospital and were trying to figure out how to get her to sleep.  I’m sure in a flash she’ll be 18 years old and I’ll be wondering how it all flew by.  Anyway, we had a great check-up and I got to spend some great alone time with her this morning.  We cuddled and watched The Today Show.  It was so fun to just snuggle together for a few minutes before things getting busy and the day unfolds.  I just love how soft her hair feels on my cheek and how she runs her little fingers across my face.  She’s a pro at showing off her belly button and clapping with her feet.  I’m so in love…can you tell?  :)

Right now, I’m working on a story about “mompreneurs.“  I love it.  They’re moms who turn a little idea into a big success.  Today on First at 4 you’ll meet a SAHM who invented a new product—got it manufactured—and is now selling it and making money.  I truly enjoy covering these success stories and I love how supportive the “mom community” is out there.  Moms supports other moms and there’s a lot to be said for that.  I didn’t know this until I started researching this story, but there are 230,000 businesses in Ohio that are owned by women.  And 53 percent of all businesses in Ohio are home based.  I have some links to websites that I think offer great information on how to start your own business.  I know there are tons of you out there with great ideas, just waiting for the right opportunity.  Go for it!  I’ll be your cheerleader, and you have a few other million moms out there who will back you up.  :)

Have a great weekend everybody.

Ellie

Oh—and next week I will introduce you to Julia.  She’s the executive producer of First at 4, and another one of my “partners in crime.“  You’ll love her.  Julia, Allison and I work closely on First at 4.  I’m lucky to be surrounded by brilliant journalists and the funny thing is….we all have wild, naturally curly hair.  We actually had a crazy chat the other day about us three being caught in a rainforest with 100 percent humidity.  What a sight!  We’d have some wild, big, untamed hair.  But you’ll hear about that soon.  :)

Thanks Ellie for your time the other day.  I loved getting to chat with you and talk about my 4th “baby” OnTray.  I love what you’re doing with First @ 4:00.  Keep up the GREAT work!

Those OnTrays are very neat.  What a GREAT idea.  I might just have to check those out.  What a great way to keep your child busy during grocery shopping.

Ellie,

I love your blog!  As a “mompreneur” myself, I always appreciate learning about other helpful Mommy websites.  Thanks and keep up the great work!
