Elaborating With Ellie

HAPPY

So Caroline has a new word, and it makes me all warm and fuzzy inside when I hear her say it.  It’s “happy.“  She just blurts it out whenever life is good.  Caroline will be sitting at the table chomping on a cracker and drinking her milk, and then look up at me with a big smile and say “happy.“  How could life be any better when you’ve got your milk and a cracker in hand?  Of course, as you all know, when your baby is happy, you’re happy.  How could life be any better?

2 THINGS I LOVE:

Bargain Box!  The Junior League of Columbus, of which I am a proud member, puts on Bargain Box every year at Veteran’s Memorial in Columbus.  This is the 60th year.  I remember the very first one.  :)  Anywhoooo…think of it as a HUGE garage sale (inside Vet’s) with all kinds of new and gently used items.  I’m talking tons of clothes, shoes, furniture, electronics, baby and kids clothes, toys (tons!), books, dishes, decorations, and household items.  You name it, it’s there.  It’s a great place to find deals.  Hours are Friday from 6pm to 9pm, and Saturday from 9am to 4pm.  If you go Friday you get first pick of the goods.  If you go Saturday (get there early because there’s a line waiting to get in) everything is HALF OFF!  All the money raised goes to JLC projects that support our community (so good stuff!), but it’s also a great place to find deals.  Just wanted you to know, because I LOVE Bargain Box.  If you go Friday, it’s free, but you need a ticket.  Here’s the link, just print it out.

Something new I love, and thank you Deal Seeking Mom for pointing this out.  Freepeats is open in Columbus.  Register now for free!

Oh—JLC friends, if you have any favorite Bargain Box memories you’d like to share, go right ahead.  :) And if anybody has any favorite “bargain hunting” websites you’d like to add, just toss them in the comments section for everyone to check out.

Have a great weekend!

Ellie is right—Bargain Box is a great place to find wonderful infant and children’s goods!  As the chair this year of the infant department, we have great deals on high chairs, pack-n-plays strollers and even a couple of cribs!!  All in good condition and most quality name brands!  We also have great clothes priced between $.50 and $2 (on Friday night).  This is a great place to look for hoilday outsits that may only be worn once.  Why not pay $3 for a frilly dress??  Since I have small children, I can tell you that there are some great toys as well. My girls tested out everyhting yesterday afternoon while I was working in my department:)

I think those are my most fondest memories—the hard work that we put in to such a large event (we even have the kiddos helping out) in order to provide such a great service to the community!

Thanks JLC for 60 years of Bargain Box!!

Hi Ellie,

Thanks for the info about Freepeats.  I checked it out, joined and even posted a request.  I have been searching garage sales and gently used stores such as Once Upon a Child for a Little Tykes or Step2 Playhouse, but have not been successful.  Hopefully someone will have one out there that they are willing to part with : )

Thanks for the heads up Ellie! We just found out we are having a boy and I was thinking I need to find a baby clothes sale soon to stock up. You always have such great tips!
