Mompreneurs—The Brownie Mommy
I wonder if Lisa King ever gets up in the morning and says “I have to go make the brownies” like that old donut commercial? Remember? It’d be funny if she did, but I also know she loves what she does, so she probably wakes up ready to go! I swear, she has the sweetest job. Lisa owns Brownie Points. It’s an internet based gourmet brownie company (and other treats) right here in Columbus that ships all over the country. You’ll find Brownie Points in grocery stores, high end specialty shops, and even ice cream (Ruggles). She’s had her ups and downs as any business owner does, but that’s what makes her success story that much sweeter. I’ll let her tell you all about it on First at 4 today. She’s excellent at sharing her story, and she’s one of those people you really want to see succeed. I swear, you’ll be cheering for her.
Lisa started from scratch, no pun intended. She had just gotten divorced and knew she needed to support her family, while also being there for her kids. Lisa started baking for friends, family and neighbors. (What a great friend!) Then someone said, “hey you should go into business.“ She did. She’s built up a business she’s proud of, and should be. She’s been on The Today Show, CNN, and the Food Network showing off her brownies. She’s famous for the “kitchen sink” brownie. The cool thing is that she is surrounded by family. Her husband, sister-in-law, and children all help out with her business.
I believe everybody has a story to tell, and I love success stories. I hope seeing Lisa inspires other entrepreneurs out there to “go for it.“ Lisa insists that baking brownies is her passion and she turned her dream into a thriving business. How is that for inspiration?!? We’ll also have “start up secrets” on First at 4 today for anybody looking to start their own business. I do hope, that if you have a dream you go after it. My theory—I don’t ever want to look back on my life with regrets.
