My Halloween Monkey
This is my all time favorite picture of Caroline. It was her first Halloween and the monkey costume suited her to a “T”. I’ve always said that Caroline is the queen of “monkeying around.“ Little did I know when I took this picture, I would look back on it as a favorite because it captures just how I saw her that day, barely able to move in the costume and looking so cuddly. I love it.
I think when holidays pop up, it is easy to wonder, “where did the time go?“ My little peanut is growing up so fast, and now the monkey costume doesn’t even fit Claire. Time with my girls is slipping by, and I’m feeling what I think all moms feel, a little ache in my heart knowing these precious days are going way too fast. Yes, we are a happy family, loving life, and enjoy every second with our daughters, but I want to freeze time. I want to hold their little hands in mine, feel Claire’s soft hair on my cheek, and hear Caroline’s big belly laugh forever. Yes, freeze time. That’s what I want!
So on this Halloween when our kids are out and about, all dressed up, doing what they do best…being a kid, let’s enjoy this time as parents. Take a mental picture and soak up all the fun, love, and joy kiddos bring into our lives.
Happy Halloween my friends.
Ellie
