Stealing a Moment
There are times when trying to “juggle it all” really gets to me. I get focused on the “to do” list, and caught up in crossing things off the list. It’s easy to do that, and I think we all do at times. There will always be plenty to do, and the list never goes away does it? I think like so many parents out there, I get caught up in what I have to get done, rather than enjoying the moment. So, I try to steal a moment whenever I can, and last night I was a thief.
We enjoyed a great family weekend at the lake. Caroline loves the water and gets so excited to splash around. But the joy was all mine. My daughter’s smile, giggle and growing vocabulary fill me with love. Last night, was the icing on the cake. I snuck into Caroline’s room after she had fallen asleep, just to check on her, but I couldn’t leave. I just stood there and stared down at her in her crib. Oh, my beautiful baby girl. How did I get so lucky? What is it about a sleeping baby or toddler that just makes us melt? I think it’s because they go from a wild tornado to a precious, silent kitten. I love watching Caroline shift around in her sleep, finding the perfect spot. Sometimes she rolls over on her tummy and tucks her hands under her chest. Other times she is spread eagle across the crib with her paci bobbing up and down in her mouth. Those little sounds she makes, the looks on her face, and the way she curls up just make me want to pick her up and snuggle her so tight. I kissed her goodnight and went to bed full of love. I’m so glad I stopped to enjoy the moment. It’s in Caroline’s peacefulness that I find my own peace, and what an amazing gift that is.
What do you do to “steal a moment?“ I think it’s important to keeping our sanity and finding balance. Want to share?

I do this pretty much every night. I love to watch Cameron sleep so peacefully. I walk in quietly and just stand beside his crib and think to myself what a lucky Mom I am to have him. He sleeps so peacefully and normally doesn’t move a bit, snuggled up with his blankie and his Mickey Mouse he is very quiet and there is nothing better then to watch him sleep.
Another thing that I love to do is to peak in on him when he just gets up from his nap. The door
is cracked just enough for me to peak in and watch him play for just a few minutes. I
re-decorated his room shortly after he turned 1 because he LOVES Mickey Mouse and I painted Mickey Mouse on his wall. Well, every time he awakes he has to say “hello” to Mickey Mouse. He goes around the room and says “Hi Mickey”, “Hi Cow”, “Hi Ducky”, “Hi Goof Goof” for Goofy and well he continues around his room until he runs out of stuffed animals or pictures. It is just neat and so cute to watch him play and do things without him knowing that you are watching!!
That is how I steal those precious moments. What a great journal post…. I love sharing things about my little man!! Thanks for sharing yours Ellie : )

I check in on my girls every night before I go to bed. I always steal a few moments just standing there watching them sleep. It takes me back to when they were infants in their cribs as they still have the same look on their face. It takes every bit of my being from scooping them up for me to hold! My heart feels like it is going to grow bigger than my chest can contain. I say a little prayer to myself as I walk out of their rooms just feeling blessed with the privledge of being their mother.
