Dishin’ On Daytime
My two college kids are back on campus, and I spent the weekend cleaning up the house after their departure. Things are more orderly now and it’s a big relief. Does that make me a bad mother?

My son Conor has been in Los Angeles all summer, for a college internship and also working in the entertainment industry. I guess having his mom be part of the TV world for so long rubbed off on my son. But Conor is more interested in the creative process and producing movies and TV shows. He certainly got a taste of it the last few months.
As I write this, my husband is bustling in the kitchen, preparing to can his famous peppers. “Hogan’s Hungarian Hots” really aren’t famous, but don’t tell my husband Dan. He thinks they are award winning.
Could it be time for school already? Didn’t we just put the backpacks away for the summer? Didn’t we just pay for the pool pass?
One look behind the scenes at this year’s Ohio State Fair, and you notice how many young people are involved in so many aspects of this statewide festival.
There’s nothing like a little vacation to rejuvinate the spirit.
In my line of work, I get the pleasure of meeting all kinds of people. I meet ordinary people who do ordinary things, and ordinary people who do extra-ordinary things. I also get to meet celebs and stars and the people who grace the pages of People magazine. This week, I’m excited because I get to meet and interview my favorite author, Jennifer Crusie!!!
Aren’t good friends the best? If there is one thing I really want my kids to realize is that family is always there, but so are good friends. AND you get to choose your friends!!
I love this time of year! The calendar if full and it’s crazy around the house…and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Looking at pictures over the weekend, I’ve realized how many years of my life I have spent here at NBC 4. And how much fun it’s been!
I just finished working on the NBC 4 Autism special that airs tonight, and have enjoyed every minute of talking to parents, educators and just finding out more about autism.
