Dishin’ On Daytime
WHEW! Our daughter Meggie now has her own wheels, and while that gives us lots of freedom, it also bring lots of worries. I’m sure there are other parents out there who feel the same way. I so enjoy having her take the keys and go on her way. But then I can’t stop thinking about my new driver and wondering how she is doing, if she’s okay, and hoping she stays safe. Then there are the argument’s. Meggie wants to now pick up friends and become their transportation. Our family rule has always been that you need to drive by yourself for the first two months after you get your license. We feel that our kids need to get familiar with the car, the rules of the roads and dealing with other drivers before adding passengers. That is not a popular decision. Meggie is always asking…sometimes begging…to pick up her friends. We are sticking to our rule.. Add extra people in the car is just a distraction our new driver does not need. I think she finally gets it, but she certainly can’t wait to finally bring along a passenger or two. But until the snow clears, you can expect that she will be behind the wheel alone!
