OHIO VOTES 2011: District, Safety Forces & Park Levies On Ballot

CENTRAL OHIO—Levies for schools, safety forces and parks are on today’s primary election ballot.

Voters also will choose delegates or nominees for various offices.

Voters will need identification to cast a regular ballot. Acceptable forms include a photo ID such as an Ohio driver’s license, military identification.

Another document with the voter’s name and address also will be accepted such as a utility bill, pay stub or government document so long as the document isn’t issued by the board of elections. Click here for more details on acceptable identification.

Local polling places with an election will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Click here for information on your polling place.

FRANKLIN COUNTY
There are no countywide issues on the ballot in Franklin County. One hundred ninety-two precincts will be open while 608 others will be closed because they have no issues or not enough candidates to require a primary.

Local ballots will have levies in the Canal Winchester, Gahanna-Jefferson and Hilliard school districts.

Some precincts will show levies that overlap from neighboring counties for Jonathan Alter, Licking Heights and Olentangy Local schools.

There will be levies for safety forces in Madison and Mifflin Townships and a parks levy in New Albany.

There are contested Republican primaries in Hilliard and Reynoldsburg for city council. Hilliard voters will nominate three candidates from a field of five to appear on the November ballot, Voters in Reynoldsburg’s first ward will advance one of two candidates to the general election.

Reynoldsburg’s city charter also requires that uncontested races for other municipal offices will be listed on the ballot as well.

CENTRAL OHIO
Amanda Clearcreek, Olentangy, Licking Heights, Northridge, Pickerington, and Jonathan Alder districts have levies on the ballot outside of Franklin County.

Pleasant Township, in Marion County, has a levy on the ballot to increase staffing to 24 hours. Jerome Township, in Union County, has a 2.9-mill levy on the ballot that would provide fire services for the next five years. Hocking Township, in Fairfield County, has a 2-mill renewal levy.

Delaware County Emergency Communications is asking for a renewal of current funding for 911 services.
