Girl Raises Awareness With Autism Walk In UA

Every month the Columbus Social Media Cafe promotes Central Ohio through the “Columbus Corners” project. This month I’d like to highlight a treasure of both Columbus and Upper Arlington, the OSU Agriculture Center which happens to be a farm in the city.

The Franklin Park Conservatory and Columbus Community Gardening folks are teaming up with Hastings Middle School to provide gardening mentors with some extra hands late in the summer.

You may not know the name, but you certainly know his work. Howard Dwight Smith (1886-1958) was inducted into Upper Arlington’s Wall of Honor Sunday, May 17. An architect of considerable accomplishment, Mr. Smith’s works include the Ohio Stadium, St. John Arena, OSU’s Library stack tower, Columbus City Hall, UA’s first city hall (now Fire Station 71), first high school (now Jones Middle School), Barrington Elementary and many many other local and regional landmarks.
The Concourse Galley is about to explode with the wonderful creations of Betty Collings, in a retrospective of her varied and inspirational artistic career. Celebrating 75 is on view May 20th through June 12th.
The Friends of the Upper Arlington Public Library will hold its 17th annual Spring Book Sale at the Main Library from May 17-31.
Fifth graders and parent volunteers decided to establish a program called, “Yes We Can” that has raised money and collected food to be taken to the Mid-Ohio Food Bank.
