A Farm in the City

Every month the Columbus Social Media Cafe promotes Central Ohio through the “Columbus Corners” project. This month I’d like to highlight a treasure of both Columbus and Upper Arlington, the OSU Agriculture Center which happens to be a farm in the city.
Food, water, air and shelter - these are necessities to our lives. Ohio has been a part of the heartland/breadbasket/etc. of the United States for more than a century and I think it isn’t just appropriate, I think it is imperative that our largest university - which resides in our capital city - continues to put such importance on agriculture as to maintain a working farm in the city. Every time I ride past the farm, whether it be on North Star, Kenny or Lane Avenue I feel a little bit of pride. When my daughter sees the cows she gets giddy. I look forward to many more years of students learning to be good stewards of our land while producing much needed food stores for the populace.
This farm in the city is truly one of my favorite Columbus Corners!
