The City of Upper Arlington invites residents to participate in a neighborhood traffic calming workshop, to discuss ideas and create workable solutions for improving safety in our community.  Four study areas have been selected to begin this process, with residents of those neighborhoods and the broader community invited to participate in workshop activities.  All meetings take place in the Lower Level Meeting Room, Municipal Services Center, 3600 Tremont Road, per the following schedule:

Wednesday, September 9
- 10:30–11:45 a.m. – Resident interviews, for the neighborhood of Lane Avenue at Brandon and Chester roads
- 12:30–1:30 p.m. – Resident interviews, for neighborhoods by Windham Road at Greensview Drive and Carriage Hill Lane
- 2–3 p.m. – Resident interviews for the neighborhood of Hastings Lane around Hastings Middle School
- 3:30–4:30 p.m. – Resident interviews for neighborhoods by Northwest Boulevard and Waltham Road

Thursday, September 10
- 7–8:30 p.m. – Presentation: Traffic calming basics; possible solutions for the four study areas; ideas for enhancing the quality of life in UA

Many of Upper Arlington’s neighborhoods are faced with similar safety and quality of life concerns resulting from increased motor vehicle traffic.  The workshop is designed to begin the process for creating neighborhood tailored and driven plans for calming traffic wherever they may be needed in our community.  Visit http://www.wcmhblogs.com/forums/viewthread/26/ to join an online conversation on traffic calming options and neighborhood safety for our community’s neighborhoods.

We are unable to attend the morning workshop on Wed., but will attend the Thursday evening workshop.
Our main concern is the SPEED and NUMBER of vehicles traveling on Brandon Road!! Many travel well over the speed limit.
This road is a cut through from Lane Ave. and south to the high school.  This is of particular concern because there are many young children living on Brandon.
We look forward to hearing suggested solutions to this problem.  Thanks for inviting our input!
