Can the Kilroy-Stivers Congressional Race Stay Positive?
Republican State Senator Steve Stivers of Upper Arlington tells me he plans to run a positive campaign in the 15th Congressional District race against Democrat May Jo Kilroy.
Neither candidates’ website includes a direct attack on their opponent, though Stivers’ website links to several stories that are critical of the Franklin County Board of Commissioners; Kilroy is a commissioner.
Kilroy’s website derides partisan bickering while attacking corporate special interests.
It’s time to change Washington. It’s time to stop the partisan bickering. It’s time to stand up to the corporate special interests that pull the strings in Congress.
Kilroy’s top five issues (per her website) are:
1) Changing the way Congress does business.
2) Ending the war in Iraq
3) Creating jobs, improving the economy
4) Affordable, available health care
5) An energy policy focused on independence
Stivers site doesn’t list his core issues, but he has emphasized national securty and the economy. We will be talking with both candidates in the near future to profile what should be a very competitive race in the 15th.
