Would Marc Dann Hire Marc Dann?
Marc Dann’s decision to stay on as Attorney General has created a firestorm inside and outside of his office. One has to wonder whether Marc Dann would hire Marc Dann? If so, you can imagine the pool of job applicants becoming increasingly more “interesting.” To those who are mistake-prone and have overseen a hostile workplace, the AG’s office may be interested in talking with you about a leadership role. And if Dann would not hire Dann, it begs the question, how can Dann continue to be the state’s top law enforcement officer?
On that note, here are excerpts from an email I received from an employee inside the AG’s office.
“I feel the need to tell you about morale in the office. As you can imagine, it’s a pretty rough time...I can tell you that I’ve never seen the morale in our office so low. Yesterday, everyone was crowded around computer monitors watching the events unfold. Soon after the press conferences were over, many of my co-workers expressed frustration that the AG didn’t resign. It’s almost humorous that the AG said he had “to do everything in [his] power” to rebuild the image of the office, because at the end of the day, the only thing he COULD have done to rebuild the image of the office, he failed to do. At this point, most of my coworkers and I feel that he needs to resign and leave the office in the capable hands of Tom Winters and Ben Espy until the Governor can appoint a successor.
In my personal opinion, the reason the AG gives for staying is nonsense. He keeps saying, “we’re doing good work for the people of Ohio.” I agree.
But, what he doesn’t realize is that we did good work before he arrived, and we’ll continue to do good work after he leaves. The quality of our work is not determined by the individual that sits in the AG’s chair. It is determined by the high caliber, hard-working employees of this office; the same employees that are at a complete loss at this point. Hopefully, the AG comes to his senses over the weekend.”
