Deep Thoughts

Badger Breakdown

First of all… if you’re going to Madison Saturday you MUST go to State Street Brats downtown.  I was 22 when I visited there and the place was packed, well into the night.  A Madison classic….

As for the game… well here’s what’s up.  In all honesty, Wisconsin doesn’t look that good on tape.  I talked to Coach Conley about it today, and athletically it’s not that close.  Travis Beckum’s injury really hurts them IMO just because he’s so versatile, it’s like losing two players instead of one.  He should be back, but who knows at what speed.  And Everidge the QB, has a tendency to get wild on his throws—-a step or two behind crossing receivers, meaning INT opportunities.  On defense, though, the Badgers can play.  I especially like the defensive tackle Mike Newkirk—used to be a defensive end, but at only 264 pounds he’s an earth mover on the interior.  Jim Cordle in particular says Newkirk is among the best linemen they’ll see, period.

The atmosphere here counts for something.  Camp Randall at night will be a drunken zoo, which means fun.  But the Bucks better be mentally prepared for this.  And it’s a true freshman QB leading the Bucks out of the huddle, which you wonder about… but Pryor’s no ordinary 19-year-old.  He can play, simply put, and loves the big stage.  Here you go kid…

And watch out for Beanie. He’s been chomping at the bit since USC week in a national showcase game to make a real statement about his status as a top flite running back.  He says he thinks he can be the best in America, even with his foot injury.  No better place and time to find out.

I will be in Wisconsin Saturday, so wish us luck… we’ll be your eyes and ears, and possibly your mouths if we get soda thrown on us like last time!  long story…
