Beanie’s Back! So stop booing!!!
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
This is what I say to all you losers who BOOOOOOOOOOED Todd Boeckman off the field Saturday. I know, i know, you were probably just angry with Coach Tressel for putting Boeckman back into the game after Pryor had been on a roll. Who cares? Is that an excuse for booing a college kid? I honestly can’t believe that would happen in this town with these fans, but I’m not completely oblivious to the level of frustration around the “the nation.“ Underperforming offense and at times, shaky defense from a veteran-stacked team. Confused? We all are… but it’s no excuse. Even Alex Boone, who as we all know is never willing to keep the truth to himself, sounded off on the booing Tuesday. “I was really disappointed in our fans that they would do that to a guy who last year led us to the national championship game… unbelievable.“ Boonie said… Jim Tressel says that booing comes with the territory.. but I disagree. Not like this. Not in such an agressive manor. All I can say is we can do better.
Speaking of better, it appears Beanie’s better, which means the Buckeye offense should be much better… how much better? Well consider the last time Wells played football was the Youngstown State game. You know how many times OSU punted in that game? Zero. Since then… yes different competition, and massively different results. Wells makes first downs, controls the clock, gives the defense more of a rest and can make big plays. His impact will be immense, if not Saturday, then soon.
But is Wells’ absence the only reason the Bucks offense has struggled? Nay. Offensive line leads the way there… and we know Jim Tressel has been serving as an “assistant offensive line coach” the past two weeks at practice. Get this—the mild-mannered, sweater-vested, good-natured Tressel has been in his linemens’ faces, yelling and barking orders to play faster. Boone says he’s played terribly this season, in particular with his pass blocking. Since Tressel’s taken a more personal approach with the big men, Boone says they’re all better.
It’s a shame it takes the head coach’s special attention to get players motivated… but in this era, whatever works.
