Bonds’ 756 ball---what I’d do with it.
“He’s an idiot.” --Barry Bonds.
That’s Barry’s take on the guy who bought his 756th Home Run---perhaps you’re wearing Mark Ecko’s clothes right now (that’s how I roll). Ecko has started a website to vote on what to do with the ball-- fans can vote on how to properly “honor” Bonds’ ball.
The website is www.vote756.com, and it presents fans with 3 options.
1.) Give it to the Hall of Fame
2.) Burn an asterisk into the ball, then send it to Cooperstown.
3.) Send the ball into space via a rocket.
All good ideas, but I think Mr. Ecko should’ve called me before building the website. Now my ideas for what to do with 756…
1. Expand the ball to 5 times its current size (Just as bonds’ head has grown 5 times its former size)
2. Shoot the ball up with HGH and re-issue it for game use. Just to see how much further someone could hit it.
3. Use the ball as a prop to talk about how media attention has affected the ball’s family (just as Bonds’ used his own son as a media prop a few years back—very classy).
4. Shred the ball and use the remnants to make golf balls (many people cheat at golf, too).
5. Send the ball back to its mistress. Barry’s got one of those.
6. And finally… Return the ball to Bonds… it might be the only friend he has left when he retires.
Harsh or unfair? Maybe… Just like Bonds’s career.
