I say… The Bucks are unlikely to make the field, even with a win over Michigan State Sunday and potentially a win in the Big Ten Tournament. It still comes down to how many top ranked teams lose in their conference tournaments. The Bucks need favored teams to win the postseason tournaments and keep the number of at-large bids as high as possible. For example, if St. John’s wins the Big East Tournament, that’s an at-large bid gone. Also, if St. John’s wins the Big East Tournament, monkeys will fly out of… never mind. If the Bucks win their next two games they have a decent chance, but I’d still be thinking about the NIT.
Omar sez… The Bucks win, and they’re in! Especially if OSU gets a rematch with MSU in the Big Ten tourney and wins again. That would be 3 quality wins against top 20 teams within an 11 day span. Then if the Bucks make the conference title game, it’s a lock. If fact, they could be as high as an 8 or 9 seed (The committee might be high if they believe this).
Of course, none of this matters if Thad Matta gets his boys rolling and OSU wins the Big Ten Tournament title. As Al Davis says, “Just Win, Baby.” That would relieve all their doubts.
