Deep Thoughts

Bryant and Brown:  Bucks aim for sweep of “athletes”

Glenville standout Christian Bryant played QB, WR, Safety and most special teams in high school.  He’s listed as a defensive back for his college position.

Cincinnati Winton Woods’ Dominique Brown was a game-changing QB for the D-II State Champions this season.  His college position is being called “athlete.“

What does “athlete” really mean?  Well, the coach has no clue what he wants to do the player, but he knows he can play “somewhere.“  Truth is, almost every recruit should be labeled an athlete. Because the college game changes so drastically from the high school level, few players will stick to their current position.  Linebackers become safeties, defensive end become linebackers, defensive tackles become defensive ends—-it happens more often than not!

Which leads me back to these two recruits—Bryant will announce his college decision Tuesday (picking between OSU and North Carolina).  Brown is currently on his official visit with Ohio State.  IF OSU lands both players, they’re landing two of the best all-around athletes in the state—-who cares what position they play.  Especially in Brown’s case—while he was a fine option QB in high school, he projects as a game-changing safety in college with his size and speed, or maybe even a receiver.

My point here being… embrace the “athlete” label, because “talent” is just as “important” as a position.

No comments for you.

Players are required not only to design a hero’s powers, but also the hero’s skills, disadvantages, and other traits. Thus, Champions characters are built with friends, enemies, and weaknesses.Barcelona tickets
