Deep Thoughts

Fiesta Blog #3:  The Walmart Experience!

This is just a dumb little story but I found it so dumb I had to share it.  I had to get some sunblock yesterday on my way to cover Texas practice in Scottsdale.  If you’ve never seen me, Jerod, I be a pale dude.  I mean crazy pale—like powder.  I found a Walmart just a half-mile from their practice site, so I wheel in. Upon entering the store, I see two racks of Fiesta Bowl t-shirts straight ahead, one scarlet and one rack in Burnt Orange.  I was curious so I walked up to look.

But there was an oddity here… one gray t-shirt on the front of the Ohio State rack.  I go in for a closer look and here’s what it says…. “Duel in the Desert:  Ohio State vs. Florida”.  Yeppers… they had a t-shirt from the “Debacle in the Desert” to be more accurate—from two years ago—-and it was on the front of the rack!

But here’s the best part…. both racks of shirts were $12.00.  How much was the OSU-Florida shirt???  $12.00!!!!  Same price for a t-shirt from two years ago where the losing team is in town!!!  I plan on checking later this week to see if that shirt is still on the rack… I’m praying it still is… and if someone is in the market for a two-year old losing t-shirt, I got some Chicago Bears Super Bowl champs boxer shorts to sell.

No comments for you.

It’s really not surprising that Wal-Mart would try to catch some unwary person and dupe them into buying an old shirt.  That’s not what was great about this post though.  The “I be a pale dude.  I mean crazy pale - like Powder” is quite possibly the funniest thing I’ve read this week.  Classic!  Good on you, from one crazy pale dude to another.

Cheers and enjoy the game!
