Gameday in Pasadena!!
You know how you’ve watched the Rose Bowl on tv and thought to yourself, “Man, that place is beautiful… the trees just over the top of the stadium, sun always shining…“? Well it’s far better in person. The scene around the stadium today is remarkable—-I’m surprised just how many Oregon fans have come here, and apparently have tickets. I’ll be curious to see the ratio of Bucks to Ducks inside the stadium… Please enjoy the photos I’ve attached here before the gates are opened.
The latest from here… We’ve been crazy busy the past few days with interviews and constant traffic, but we’ve managed to get everywhere on time and get what we needed. The Buckeye Bash last night in Santa Monica was a total scene—some 15-20 thousand fans. And the biggest cheers seemed to be for the 1997 Rose Bowl team members who showed up, including QB Joe Germaine. I talked to him for a bit—he’s still living in Arizona, doing some coaching and teaching and some other business stuff. He said being asked to serve as today’s Honorary Captain was among the biggest honors of his life… fitting because the TD pass he threw to David Boston here 13 years ago was certainly the biggest football moment of his life.
Buckeyes Jake Ballard and Jim Cordle told me last night the team is more than ready to go… They’ll have to watch their emotions, much like the 08 title game where they came out like a house of fire, then got put out over the next 3 quarters.
Getting lots of great photos and video today of the scene around the Rose Bowl… check back for more fun later tonight.
ps…the streak ends today!
