It’s Game Day!
To borrow a Coach Tressel phrase, “enthusiasm is overflowing” as Buckeye supporters refuse to be outdone by the LSU fans. On Bourbon Street, the music is inside and most of the people are outside. So whenever one of the bands plays Hang on Sloopy, hundreds in Scarlet and Gray join round and take over that particular block. A very cool scene.
Hanging out on Bourbon Street has been an experience the past few nights. From Eddie George to Drew Carter to Antonio Smith to Justin Zwick, several former Buckeyes have found a home in the French Quarter enjoying the revelry this city has to offer. Justin says this will be the first time he’ll ever watch OSU as a fan. He served as an analyst this year and the five before he was on the team. Interesting perspective.
The 51 days are gone and the anticipation for the National Championship game continues to build. I’m often asked how I think the Buckeyes will do and I must say my confidence in this team grows every moment. I think Ohio State has had the right mix of work and play in order to be effectively ready for tonight. My prediction - 37-31 Buckeyes. A much higher scoring affair than you’d expect from two great defenses, but I think both will be rusty and the offenses have had so much time to plan against them. Can’t wait for kickoff!
Until tomorrow, Omar
