Jrod on the Weekend…
I filled in for Omar this weekend, which means i found something rare Sunday night… a free 5 minutes! So here’s my thoughts on the weekend overall…
Blue Jackets: Best news for Columbus… now they’re finally beating the bad teams too! They’ve owned San Jose, Detroit and other big boys this season…. but St. Louis and other slow pokes have caught the Jackets napping….until recently. Big win at Carolina Saturday night—-and I love the balanced scoring on this team. Rick Nash does not have to score a hat trick for the CBJ to win anymore!
Buckeyes: Wisconsin basketball makes my eyes bleed. Maybe you saw it on air Saturday night. I dunno why it’s so tough to play against the Badgers’ defense—-seems like with good shooters you can shoot them out of their zone. But the Bucks, to UW’s credit, didn’t get many open looks. Either poor screening by the Bucks or poor cutting Diebler and the guards could explain it. I still like this team, tho.
Dublin Scioto: The Irish are now 17-1 this season, and you’ve probably barely heard about them. Why? Well it’s a bunch of football players! 3 of their players have Division 1 football scholarships, and none will likely play college hoops. But they’ve won 34 straight OCC games thanks to hard nosed defense and athleticism. Says something for coaching, too.
3 point and Dunk Contest: DAEQUAN!! Nice job man… we all knew he could shoot the ball against no defense, and that’s why his game sets up well for the NBA! He’ll keep getting better… and I think Nate Robinson earned the dunk contest win—-leaping over Dwight Howard is a ridiculous feat.
Daytona: LAME. I know it’s not their fault, but a rain soaked finish took a little something away from a sport that’s struggling to sell tickets right now. I’ll be interested to see how the tv ratings did, because I personally love the sport, but even I can tell it’s losing something. I think the racing is as good as it’s ever been, though… and the talent behind the wheel is remarkable.
That about does it! Back to work…
