Media Day
LSU came in first and here’s the scoop: Les Miles likes wearing hats. Take a moment and let that sink in. Also, QB Matt Flynn looks eerily similar to Matt Damon. So teammate Ali Highsmith calls him “The Bourne Ultimatum.”
But don’t forget RB Jacob Hester and his devotion--to Elvis! So strong is his devotion he can readily recite his top five Elvis songs (#1 is If I Can Dream). He’s been to Graceland eight times. Yep, he’s that guy.
Then the Buckeyes came in for their hour session. They much more relaxed than they were on this day a year ago.
I have routine on media days--I go around to as many players as I can and ask 5 or 6 questions I’ve prepared, none of which make any sense.
For example, none of the players had heard Britney Spears was back in the hospital for “exhaustion.” As Kirk Barton called it “a celebrity disease.”
Among the bad Christmas gifts the Bucks received, Rory Nicol’s shopvac could not compare to Tyler Whaley’s socks or Malcolm Jenkins’ “nothing.”
And when we asked for the coolest thing about Jim Tressel, several players talked about how the coach tries to “relate” to different types of people. Tress tries to be cool with the country mice and the city mice, which is… Nice.
I thought the Bucks were loose and excited to play… Doesn’t mean much, but it’s true.
Keep checking out the blog-so fresh and so clean. Peace
