Deep Thoughts

Nothing about OSU Athletics is 2nd best

I’ve heard people call Ohio “The 2nd state” because of our incredible streak of 2nd place finishes in this state.  In the past 3 years we’ve seen the football Buckeyes lose the BCS title game twice, The men’s basketball team lose the national title game, men’s soccer lose, wrestling finished in 2nd place two straight years… and Tuesday the men’s tennis team finished as national runners up.  Even the Cavs lost in the NBA Finals two years ago!

What does this prove?  That we’re #1.

Can any other school or state claim to be so strong in so many different sports?  I dont think so… at least I don’t want to think of any!  That’s where Ohio State’s athletic department depth really shines through.  Who cares if those teams didn’t win national titles???  They got to the ultimate college match in all those sports… and I have yet to mention the national titles the Buckeyes annually win in women’s Synchronized Swimming and the co-ed Fencing team.  36 varsity sports at Ohio State, the most offered at any school in America.  But the Bucks are proving more than diverse, they’re proving talented in diverse sports.

And it keeps going… The Baseball Buckeyes just clinched the Big Ten regular season title and are headed to the NCAA’s.  The softball team just won it’s NCAA regional and plays in the NCAA Super Regionals this week at Georgia.  Win there and they’ll play in the College Softball World Series.

Eventually, the Bucks will break through in one of these big games… but disappointed fans (I keep hearing from them, so i guess they exist) should take comfort in one undeniable fact.  At least your team was there!!  No other school can say that as much.
