Speaking “Tresselese”... the YSU Game
Doug Worthington’s in the dog house. Don’t take Kojak to figure that out. Jim Tressel, in my opinion, is not soft on players who run afoul of the law. It may not be public, it may not seem harsh, but the punishment is real. Think Dean Wormer’s double-secret probabtion! If he plays Saturday, don’t think he’s getting off easy.
I was surprised to hear so many freshman could play right away in a year where so many seniors dominate the team. Tressel mentioned 11 freshmen who COULD play… emphasis on COULD. I remember last year he’d rattled off many names of guys on whom the coaches had not decided about redshirts. And truth be told, that’s an always changing situation because of injuries. Tressel even mentioned defensive end Nathan Williams, who worked through the summer just to make it into school—Tress says Williams has stood out in camp. As for the names he mentioned; Pryor, Posey, thomas, brewster, shugats, adams, sabino, k. wells, sweat and domicone.
Here’s wondering if Brandon Saine will play Saturday—Tress says the docs tell him Saine’s hamstring is 95-100%, but does he need to play if there’s any risk at all? You get the sense that if he can play the Bucks will put him out there. They’d really like to get a look at the new kickoff return tandem of Saine and Boom Herron.
And here’s one you’ll notice if you’re home watching on the now-available Big Ten Network and in the stadium… they’re gonna show replays this year, even of controversial plays. The league did not previously want to criticize its own officials by showing their possible mistakes. Thank goodness that’s over.
