The Carson Controversy: Buckeye Basher
I LOVE honesty. I respect it and practice it. Honesty is good.... and very bad.
Carson Palmer’s brutally honest take on Ohio State and its fans leaves a Bengals fan a bit conflicted. He makes his multi-million dollar-a-year living in a state filled with a fans of a school he can’t stand. I got news, dude… there are more Buckeye fans in Central Ohio than there are Bengals fans in the universe. Let’s just say, Carson’s a bit outnumbered.
“I call this meeting of the Carson Palmer Fan Club--Central Ohio chapter--to order! Hello… anyone?”
I get cheering for your school… but that’s not what Carson did. He practically called the Buckeyes overrated and annoying. “I can’t stand the
Buckeyes...” Palmer said. Truth is, he would’ve said that whether his USC Trojans were playing OSU this season or not. Let’s be honest---if Chris Perry (plays for the same team, was a running back for Michigan) said the same thing, no big deal. Of course he feels that way, he’s a Michigan man. But typically a good ribbing of a rival is well meaning and sometimes funny. Carson’s rant was really more intense and hate-filled in tone.
Maybe he’s a little jealous that a college team gets more attention in Ohio than his pro team. Maybe he’s bothered that if fans of both teams had to choose one, they’d like go with the college guys.
And here’s the thing--I can’t believe Palmer said this. Carson. He’s as boring as the PBS pledge drive tote bag. As vibrint and exciting as white toast.
So I’ll be honest… I LOVE THIS! It’s awesome to hear an athlete who spills the beans. The real beans. Carson spoke his mind… good for him, because I’ve never heard Carson say anything interesting. At least I now know he’s capable.
