The Jackets’ New “Boll”

Two of their players are legitimate NHL All-Stars today.  Rick Nash and Pascal Leclaire have led the Jackets early surge this season.  But the one player who no one knew would even be on this team is now “Bolling” over his teammates and coaches.

Jared Boll’s barely 21 years old—in the team media guide he’s listed with the guys invited to training camp—not the millionaires in the following pages. Yet he’s instantly become a fan favorite for two very old-school reasons. 

#1—Boll loves to fight.  And in Jody Shelley’s early absence, Boll’s been ready to drop the gloves at any moment.  Typically, he gets the best of scraps—as he should.  Boll’s an impressive physical specimen at 6’2 and near 200 pounds.

Reason #2:  The guy can score.  Boll’s posted some incredible goals this season—some that Coach Ken Hitchcock has called “Goalscorer goals,” meaning ones that take more imagination than skill.

He’s likely to stay with the big club all season, because Boll’s demonstrated the hunger to stay in the NHL, and the skill to shine at the highest level.  Plus, his teammates love him.  When Jason Chimera even mentions Boll, he starts smiling.  He’s young, goofy and prepared to make a great career for himself here in Columbus.

My Family is starting the Boll Patrol!  We love this guy (esp. my 11 year old daughter!).  Jared Boll plays the game of hockey with wild-eyed passion, enthusiasm, and wrecklessness.  He is a winner.  He brings the team up, the coach gets 20 years younger, and the team skates lighter and quicker.  Pay him some good money, because we need Boll’er to be around a long time.  He will set the standard for a fearless, wreckless team the bluejackets will become.  He is the spirit of our future.  Simply put, he is a nut and this Buckeye loves him!  Bravo.

Are family is part of the Boll Patrol.  We love him.  Jared Boll plays the game of hockey with wild-eyed passion, enthusiasm, and wrecklessness.  When he is in the game, other players skate faster and lighter, the coach looks twenty years younger, and the team looks inspired.  Boll is a winner.  Pay him big bucks because he is going to be the heart of this up and coming team. Keep crushing ‘dem Boll’er!
