the Latest on Louie… Vito, that is
Over the weekend Louie qualified for the US Olympic team despite falling in his 2nd run at the US Grand Prix. Then in his 1st run tonight at the Winter X-Games, Louie fell again—-not the form he’s accustomed to as he’s challenged Shawn White for “world’s best snowboarder” status. But his 2nd run tonight Vito put together a relatively smooth run and qualified for Friday’s finals—-and at the end of the run it looked like the old Vito. He was smiling, mostly relieved, and ready to press on. He’s never faced this type of performance pressure in his young career, but Louie appears to be warming to the attention. I mean, this can’t be any harder than facing down the judging panel of Dancing With The Stars, on which he was a contestant this past year.
We’ll be following Louie’s progress closely the next few weeks as he closes in on Vancouver—-he’s a great kid with a very upbeat attitude.
