Deep Thoughts

What I’ve learned about the Bucks… so far.

What did I learn at Wisconsin?  Well…. the sight of 80-thousand people jumping along in unison to a song is just about the coolest thing i’ve seen at a game in some time.  I learned that Madison’s a great town with incredibly friendly people, and they REALLY like brats there.  I learned that you can get a paper copy of the Onion newspaper there.

And I learned Ohio State is pretty good.

But good is certainly a downgrade from what we’ve seen the past couple years.  Wisconsin, IMO, is not a great football team.  No doubt they can hit (ask the boatload of Bucks who stumbled off the field) and run the football, but they’re not a complicated or confusing offense, nor for that matter defense.

I learned Terrelle Pryor makes some silly mistakes, and makes up for them in fascinating fashion.  I learned that Beanie Wells, at like 60%, is better than anyone else in America at running the football.  He is special—very special.  I learned that Michael Brewster getting thrown to the wolves at center might be a more significant change than the QB flip at OSU—-that is a tough job for a senior, let alone true frosh.

I learned that I’m glad I never walked on to play at Marshall.  What taught me this?  Watching Boom Herron get blowed up by that UW dude…

I learned that Buckeye defense is as leaky as I’ve seen it in some time… but historically this defense has weaked as the season moves along… maybe the inverse is true in ‘08?

and I learned that 4 hours of sleep at the Madison aiport Red Roof Inn is not good enough.

This is what I’ve learned. But really, learning’s a lifelong process.

No comments for you.

I agree with a lot of what you say here.

I’m hoping the inverse is true this season for the Buckeyes. Hoping for a good game against Purdue anyway.
