frustrating
Watching the thermometer hold between 32.7 and 32.9
what this means is that we are seeing melting of the snow we have. I know outside of the city it only has to be 1 degree colder and it will be and the snow will not be as wet and not melting. That is why we see amounts around 10 inches out there and 7 in here. Amazing that the warmth of the city can hold even in a snowstorm.
how often do we seem to be 1 degree off of being in a perfect storm plan. amazing how that happens

I’ve been checking the Weather Channel site periodically (I’ve had several sites open all day). I’ve been watching the Low that was near Memphis this afternoon, and it is now in west central Kentucky at the Tenn border. I’ve been wondering all day what track that low would go as I’m hoping for big accumulation. The High was maybe near Virginia earlier, and has shot out into the Atlantic. However, that low hasn’t moved much. There was another Low at the Miss/Ala border earlier. But, I was wondering if you had aby indication as to where the Low over KY might go. Thanks. I’m in Thornville and my kids have heard me complain when the rain mixed in and, combined with the warmer temps, limited the snowfall and melted what was here! It’s all good now.

Jim there must be at least 10 inches here in Powell, OH. The snow is piling up on the branches to the point it looks like the trees are sagging. Visibility is way down. It’s absolutely amazing!

Just wondering I was checking weather.com and it says we are in the area of 6-12 inches do you think that is possible by the time this storm ends tomorrow for the Lancaster, Ohio area? I was hoping that it would not be some tiny amount like 1-3 what do you think I know the snow is coming down hard outside right now but what do you think?

Jym,
I have a lot of ice on my trees now. Mnay evergreens are bent over and leaning. There must have been a decent period of sleet or drizzle, I have some large branches coming down now too with the wind. I fear we may have some power outages if the wind picks up a lot.
My temp gauge says 33.6 outside the outerbelt, maybe it is just our warm hearts out here!

Hi Jym,
The snow is still coming on strong here at Buckeye Lake. We live on the lake and I need your help. My husband makes fun of me for saying that we get “lake-effect” weather (i.e. colder winds, foggier, heavier snow/ice, etc). Is it possible that is true here on our little mud puddle??
Thanks!

Jym:
Noticed that the heavy snow is really weighing down the branches on our decorative trees. AEP is starting to report fair numbers of customers without power, especially east of here. Hope the tree trimming crews got enough done this summer!

We’ve been just under 32 degrees out here north of Frazeysburg all day, we never did have anything but pure, heavy snow. When we were standing outside in it the falling snow felt like little snow balls hitting, you could actually hear it. It measured 12 inches out here just before 11 tonite, so just how much are we going to end up with? This is crazy! My poor little dog weighs less than 10 pounds, he has to jump and dive when I take him outside….

I know what you mean Jym. I love winter, and have been saddened to see it slowly disappear. Now, we’re supposed to get a big snow, but the heat keeps the snow away. It’s snowing steadily here but isn’t piling up. Sad. I wanted snow.

Jym,
About an hour ago I was taking some dinner to my son who is a paramedic at Grady hospital here in Delaware, Ohio. Temperatures were between 1 and 3 degrees F, and I hit patches of dense fog during my drive of about 2 miles each way. Why would we have fog when the temperatures are between 1 and 3 above zero?

Jym, this next storm seems to have the typical “warm pocket of air” component to it. Thoughts?
