Is the Norfolk Southern Railroad in Hillard closing?

The Norfolk Southern is not closing… that would be ridiculous. The specific question that should have been asked is: Will the BUCKEYE YARD in Hilliard Ohio be closing? I’ve personally been victim of corporate “fluff” and vague responses such as the one you received from the NS representative. I am curious to know what his response would be to that specific yard on the Norfolk Southern railroad - not the entire railroad.

The employees at the Norfolk Southern Buckeye Yard are hearing quite a different story. We are hearing the upper mgmt is coming to town to tell us the yard will be shut down. We don’t know if it’s temporary or indefinite, or if hump operations will be curtailed until the economy picks up. Someone might want to call Rudy Husband and ask him what IS the future of Buckeye Yard. Pin him down and don’t let him use a play on words. Just the truth would be nice, since a lot of people will lose their jobs or have to uproot their families and relocate.
